/Express Distribution has opened its seventh major depot, at Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, with over 3000 of chilled warehouse capacity. The company will run a daily trunking service to multiple distribution centres in the UK, and a chilled groupage service will link the new site to France, Belgium and West Germany.
At the opening the Road Haulage Association's directorgeneral Bryan Colley called the depot an exciting development in professional distribution "leading the trend away from own-account operations."
Express Distribution runs a fleet of 680 vehicles, delivering more than two million cases of products every week. The site has created 40 new jobs.
