• The only truckstop for 99km on the A21 between London and Hastings will close unless its proprietor can persuade Shell to sell her the site. Christine Savell, the proprietor of Savelloys, is fighting to keep the East Sussex cafe which she has been ordered to vo(ate by 10 January next year. She is appealing to drivers to sign a petition against Shell's plans to sell the site to an undisclosed buyer. And says she will fight "up until the end" to keep her business in Robertsbridge, 6krn from Battle.
She is furious that her 2110,000 offer for the freelold was pipped by a higher bid, despite the fact she has lived and operated at the site for seven years. Shell says it only took outside offers after Smell's initial bid was well below the asking price.
