• Livingstone Hire claims to have introduced the first truly portable hydraulic fluid testing equipment. A big advantage of the CM20 Contamination Monitor is that there is no need to close down the system while tests are carried out. Samples are obtained on-line and results presented almost instantly. The machine displays the number of micronic particles detected in the fluid which then enables decisions about a fluid change or other maintenance to be made there and then. The makers claim that on-line optical particle counting is a major breakthrough in scheduled oil analysis and that the technique will detect more than 90% of fluid system failures.
Test results appear on an LCD display and can be downloaded to a computer via an RS232 interface if needs be and the CM20 is available for rental from Livingstone Hire for a fee of £285per week (ExVat). Write No.82 on the reader reply card.
