• Driving at night or in poor weather could be made much safer using a vision enhancement system developed by Jaguar, Pilkington and GEC Marconi Avionics.
Near infra-red light "illuminates" the scene which is captured by a video camera mounted at the top of the windscTeen above the driver's head. The image is computer enhanced and projected on to a holographic patch on the windscreen, aligned with the real image.
In using a holographic patch, 90% of the green monochrome image can be reflected while transmitting nearly 100% of other wavelengths.
Work is still going on to accommodate the curvature of various windscreens.
