EXPORTS of commercial vehicles, Ls including industrial trucks, general haulage tractors and trailers, declined heavily in August, compared with July. The total value of shipments in August was ft,II63,640, against £2,803,019 in the previous month. The number of units sent overseas fell from 6,117 to 4,069.
In the first eight. months of the year, 38,480 vehicles were exported, bringing in a total of £16,502,297. In addition to the classes of vehicle named, agricultural tractors and parts to a value of £434,937 were sent overseas in August, bringing the figure for the first eight months of the year to £2,583,331. A substantial business was also done in used commercial vehicles, and in components and accessories.
