• A part-time inventor has come up with a lock which fits to a van's rear twin doors.
The Bril locking bar is made from zinc-plated hardened steel and incorporates the hasp, staple and padlock in a single bolton unit. This protects the vulnerable working parts from pipes and Stillson wrenches—
the most popular tools for breaking padlocks.
The Royal Mail in Birmingham is using the lock. A spokesman says: "Before we had it on our Escort vans we were averaging one break-in a month."
Bril retails at 145.
