• Ford dealer Evans Halshaw plans to close its Avonmouth commercial vehicles dealership which it says incurred unacceptable losses of about £400,000 in the first half of 1992.
Evans Halshaw chairman Geoffrey Dale says the company has been reviewing the future of the Avonmouth outlet for the past 12 months, in consultation with Iveco Ford. He says he is likely to relinquish the truck franchise in the region. "We will certainly be transferring the Ford commercial vehicle franchise (for vans of 3.5 tonnes and below) into our Bristol car dealership," says Dale, but we are planning to terminate our business with Iveco Ford trucks in the area."
Iveco Ford says Bristol-based Bryan Brothers is its most conveniently located dealership to take up the slack.
