AMANCHESTER subsidiary had been formed by McKelvie and Co., Ltd., Glasgow, Mr. F. Williamson, North Western Licensing Authority, learned on Monday. The new concern, McKelvie and Co. (Manchester), Ltd., successfully applied to operate 10 vehicles totalling 69 tons.
Mr. D. Goodfellow, traffic manager. said that seven vehicles and a trailer were on special A licence, The other three vehicles were on public A licence. All had a normal user of "general goods, Lancashire and Scotland." The published
application for a 61-ton trailer was withdrawn.
Objections were lodged by the British Transport Commission and 'Contractors (Transport), Ltd., but, at Mr. Williamson's suggestion, a condition prohibiting the carriage of abnormal loads was added to the grant. • The subsidiary were also allowed a B licence for three vehicles of 74 tons. Conditions were "collection and delivery of goods to and from company vehicles engaged on trunk services, within 35 miles of base and to and from Leeds."
