• The possibility of having municipal buses in Glasgow painted in only one colour is being studied by the transport committee. Bailie Walter Wober, transport convener, made the suggestion to his committee and explained later that about £30,000 a year could be saved in painting costs. There were, he said, 1200 buses in the 'Glasgow fleet and every bus was repainted every two years. He believed that a saving of £50 a bus could be achieved if the vehicles were only one colour instead of the present orange. green and cream.
Bailie Wober said he did not mind what colour was used, but added that he would not be pressing for blue!
