• A new range of hydraulically operated vehicle washing equipment, intended for vans, coaches, buses and transport containers, has been developed by R. J. Edwards and Co (Engineers) Ltd, St. John's Road, Waterloo, Liverpool 22. Some models can incorporate waxing and drying equipment. Prices start at £2200 for an automatic commercial vehicle wash.
R. J. Edwards and\ Co has been manufacturing and installing vehicle wash machines under contract for some years. One of the weaknesses with existing plant,
the company says, is that dependence on electrical power in conditions of humidity and dampness leads to unreliability and a need for frequent maintenance of the equipment.
Drawing upon experience in hydraulic power used in coal mining and earth moving, Edwards have based their new equipment on hydraulics. The enclosed unit incorporates both top and side brushes.
The wash unit is claimed to handle 60 vehicles an hour, attended, and 30 unattended.
