Alongside fairly obvious worries about accurate height markings on bridges and trailers and the large, flat sides' susceptibility to side winds were a number of less outwardly apparent anxieties. These included transport managers insisting on drivers using 4x2s rather than far more stable 6x2 tractor units; small (17in) wheels found to be very vulnerable to potholes and drain covers; the risk of drum brakes overheating under sustained braking on long descents; and worst of all, warehouse staff especially at supermarket RDCs -with no understanding of weight distribution who are likely to load heavy pallets on the top deck.
