FARE collection experiments are to begin on South Yorkshire PTE's articulated bus fleet.
Two vehicles are operating on Sheffield route 56 which runs from the city centre to the suburb of Wyborn and have been equipped with three automatic fare collection machines each.
Passengers are being encouraged to board at the front of the bus and a new coarsened fare structure has been introduced with a 2p child fare, and 4p or 6p adult fares.
The PTE had hoped to introduce fare collection on its articoperated City Clipper service, but the Sheffield City Council has asked for this service to remain free of charge.
