A GANG OF MEN who kidnapped a truck driver at gunpoint and stole his load of computer equipment worth more than £170,000 have been granted leave to appeal against their convictions.
Last June, nine men were jailed for a total of 99 years at Worcester Crown Court for their part in the operation; seven were convicted of conspiracy to kidnap and rob, and two of conspiracy to steal.
The Court of Appeal has now ruled that seven of the gang, including ringleader Terry Cutler who was jailed for 18 years and his accomplice Philip Price who was jailed for 14 years. can appeal against their convictions.
Cutler and Price took Alan Jones prisoner at gunpoint before bundling him into the boot of a car. He was released hours later after other members of the group had transferred the contents of his truck into other vehicles.
