Q EVEN quotations from the article 0,./which appeared in "The Commercial Motor" dated October 7, written by Mr. Ernest Bevin, the general secretary of the Transport and General Workers Union, were given in a speech by Mr. Ellis Smith (StokeāLab.), in the House of Commons last week, when he raised questions on the transport policy. He said the article adequately
summed up the situation with which we were confronted. It showed who was responsible for the dead hand. The article, he went on, was a very serious indictment, written by a responsible general secretary of a Trade Union, who was not accustomed to writing an article of that character unless he had good grounds for so doing.
