A Humberside truck driver who lost his LGV driving licence after being convicted of dangerous driving following an accident while he was using a mobile phone has won back his licence.
Howard Stephenson of Bransholme, Hull, appeared before North-Eastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney at a Leeds public inquiry.
Stephenson said he was currently working part-time for a haulage contractor in Hull, and that if he got his LGV driving licence back it would give him a full-time job.
Asked about his accident he said he had hit a wheelie bin in York when using his mobile phone while driving an artic. No other vehicles had been involved and no one had been injured. Returning the licence with a very strong warning, the TC said he had a reference from St.ephenson's employer who clearly thought highly of him.
He always took very seriously a conviction for dangerous driving on the record of a professional driver.
