THE EUROPEAN Commission (EC) has raided a group of international freight forwarders in an anti-trust inquiry into pricefixing allegations.
Continental financial sources say Switzerland's Kuehne & Nagel International and PanalpinaWelffransport Holding have admitted being raided, as has the Zurich-based Schenker transport unit of German railway corporation Deutsche Bahn. Deutsche Post-owned DHL confirms that EC officials have "contacted" As managers.
The EC is probing claims that some freight forwarders have conspired to fix fuel and other charges. It says: "The EC has reason to believe the companies concerned may have violated EU treaty rules that outlaw restrictive business practices."
