ALTRINCHAM-BASED body and trailer manufacturer Cartwright Group has designed and built its own integral tail-lift for doubledeck trailers that is lighter and easier to maintain than conventional retro-fit tail-lifts.
The 2-tonne capacity tail-lift is built into the back section of the trailers’ chassis and bodywork, which removes the need to duplicate materials by building an additional back frame to support a bolt-on tail-lift. This reduces the kerbweight of a doubledeck trailer by between 150kg and 200kg.
Director Steven Cartwright said its integral design improves the repair and maintenance process, operational efficiency, is more user-friendly, reduces potential damage, and the weight savings improve the carbon footprint.
The tail-lift also uses a fixed control that travels with the tail-lift, instead of a wander-led control.
