DRIVERS' HOURS
• New HGV and PSV drivers' hours regulations will come into force on September 29 this year. E.P. Training Services of Esher is to run a series of evening seminars during July, August and September to explain the new EEC regulations.

TACHO ENFORCEMENT
• To help drivers cope with an expected increase in tachograph law enforcement, Lucas Kienzle's tachograph centres are being issued with supplies of a wall chart.
It shows current versions of Kienzle standard and automatic tachographs, how duty switches should be used, the traces made on charts by the duty switches, how to fill in the centre field, and the difference between standard and automatic charts.
PSV RIGS COVERED
• The Royal Society of Arts, which is the examining board for the Certificate of Professional Competence, has announced that the new PSV legislation contained in the Transport Act 1985 should be in the syllabus for June examinations.
Although the legislation is not yet implemented, questions about it can arise in the June examinations. This affects only the PSV syllabus, not the HGV. Questions will not be set on the transitional arrangements (October 86February 87) nor on road service licensing, which is to be abolished in October. An article in CM December 7, 1985 reviewed the Transport Act 1985, Other impending changes in legislation such as the new drivers' hours regulations will not be examined until at least three months after implementation.
