IWILL be all change at the Iritish Road Services group on anuary 1, when three of the ompanies gain new managing Iirectors, Eastern BRS managn director Bill Atkinson, who as held his present post for ■ ver six years and who has been with BRS for around 30 years, is noving to North Western BRS in 'lace of Ian Blundell, who has esigned. He is being replaced iy Robbie Burns, an area genTal manager and director of Aidlands BRS who joined the iroup in 1971. MBRS Birmingiam and the North area general nanager Alan McPherson, a iroup employee of 23 years' tending, succeeds Steve Abel it Midlands BRS. Mr Abel is now
group managing director with Roadline UK.
The managing director of Freightliners Ltd, Cyril Bleasdale leaves his post to become the director of BR's Inter-City passenger services. Mr Bleasdale joined BR in 1 95 0, holding various executive posts in operating and commercial fields.
He became managing director of Freightliners in 1975, when it was part of the National Freight Corporation. Henry Sanderson has been appointed director of British Rail's freight operations. He started with BR as a traffic apprentice in 1948 and worked his way up to chief freight manager before becoming director.
The Road Haulage Association has made Liam Boyle acting secretary for the East Midland Area. He was formerly assistant area secretary.
Robert Phillipson, director of the British Road Federation, has become director general designate of the new organisation being formed to co-ordinate the aggregates, Black Top and Ready-Mix concrete industries, which incorporates the Ashphalt and Coated Macadam Association. He will take up the position on January 1,1982. Ralph Roberts, Northern executive of the National Bus
Company, has been seconded for two years to become deputy director general of the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.
The present WYPTE directorgeneral, Robin Ward, will be retiring within the next two years.
And Roland Higgins, formerly of the United Counties company,
has become divisional manager for NBC's North-west area of Glamorgan.
John Dowsett joins the board of Dow Freight Services Ltd as operations director.
