SEALINK, P&O and European Ferries have reduced their charges for light vans on cross-Channel ferries, following protests from the industry. The Freight Transport Association voiced total opposition to a move in January which classed vans of up to 5.5m as commercial vehicles and not cars as before, taking the tariff to £90. The three ferry companies have agreed subsequently to reduce this to £60 with effect from the beginning of this month.
