BRIDGEWATER Windscreens of Watford is calling for laminated screens for cars and light commercial vehicles.
Laminated screens with their thick plastic inter-layer are more resistant to the penetration of flying debris from the outside, which is, and always has been, the most common reason for replacement.
Laminated glass is more expensive than ordinary glass by about 10 to 15 per cent for light vans and 25 to 30 per cent where fitted to maximum weight vehicles. It can also delay delivery if specified for a new vehicle.
However, it is claimed to be more reliable in service, and even if damaged can allow completion of the journey before replacement is made.
