EPPING changes are to be made in e vehicle classifications in the Lorry r of the Year competition. This le evident from a series of decisions by the executive committee at a ng in Coventry on Tuesday. It was that the committee was concerned criticisms which had been levelled contest and was endeavouring to these criticisms with the new sals. It was going to consider the ; question of classification by weight 1i as by length for rigid vehicles. main changes relate to small vans. titre, vehicles under 224 cwt. regisunladen weight (or such other as is subsequently decided) will be led from Class A, the minimum for which has been increased from to 16 ft. Class B has been amended length limits ,accordingly, with the • limit still 19 ft.
Flat .semi-trailers are to be separated from bodied types in the articulated vehicle classes. The new classes will be as follows: F (I) flat or sided semi-trailers up to 30 ft. long, tractor under 4 tons unladen weight; F (2) box or tank semitrailers up to 30 ft., tractor under 4 tons; G as F (I), but for tractors over 4 tons unladen weight; H as F (2).but for tractors over 4 tons unladen weight.
A trophy to be awarded at the National Final is to be given by Cranes (Dereham), Ltd. Details of the exact award will be announced later. The National Final is to be held in Coventry on September 16.
" Where local eliminating centres award a trophy for their overall winner, this will in future have to be settled either on a mathematical or a run-off basis." This recommendation is to be considered by the National Committee at a meeting on February I.
