A paste, Metallit Heat Protection, can be spread around any area to be welded in order to prevent buckling — and its heatshielding effect reduces damage to surrounding painted areas.
After welding, the paste is wiped off — and most of it, claims the manufacturer, can be used again.
High conductivity metals such as aluminium and copper are made easier to weld, and application of the paste means that welding may be completed near metal components normally damaged by heat.
The paste is sold in 5.511b buckets.
