Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

produced by the "filamentwound-process. What is this process, what are its advantages and who produces filament-wound tanks?

A Filament-wound tanks are produced on a

rotation mandrel with resin-dipped glass rovings and they are said to be lighter and stronger than plastics tanks of conventional glass-fibre construction. In the case of a "one-off" tank or of tanks produced in a small quantity, the filament-wound process is more costly than that of glass-fibre-mat construction, but quantity production favours the filament-wound type.

Gloster Saro Ltd,, Hucclecote, Gloucester, has produced filament-wound road tankers, but is now concentrating on demountable tanks of this type because of the relatively large quantities involved. Tough Plastics Ltd.. Common Lane, Culcheth, Warrington, Lams, points out that the glass-to-resin ratio provided by the filament-wound process is higher than the ratio in the case of glass-fibremat tanks and that this increases the Young's Modulus value of the material. This company is concentrating on the production of filamentwound tanks of the pump-discharge type, as distinct from the pressure-discharge type.
