Next January, Leeds is to introduce a one-way traffic scheme in the city centre, linked with the introduction of parking meters, clearways in the peak hours, and traffic-free precincts. Work has already begun on a new inner ring road, which will he linked by radial roads from all parts of the city. Car parks will be established adjacent to this road, and drastic restrictions on the use of private cars within the circle formed by the new road might be introduced. Ald. Rafferty said that they would study motorists' reactions to the experimental services, and if they did not accept them, the committee would try to find out what they did want.
