While the haulage world is a hot bed of gossip, innuendo and downright lies, every now and then a big story breaks that clearly rocks the industry to its very foundation and travels throughout the length and breadth of the country. However, despite that not everyone seems to have heard one of the more noticeable news items of the past decade.
During a recent readiest CM'S very own Kevin Swallow stopped in a BP station on the A5 where he spotted and bought a smart model attic in the Corgi Superhaulers' series in the colours of er...City Logistics. Now either we've slipped into a parallel dimension or isn't City the same company that spectacularly went 'pop' last year? It so (and we think you'll find we're right) then did it not occur to anyone at Corgi to withdraw said line from the shelves by now? Or perhaps we're missing the point.
Perhaps the smart Renault Premium and curtainsider combo is in fact the latest example of a new `Those you have loved.., and lost' line of merchandise. Or perhaps we can now look forward to a new range of models featuring the tractive units of other (still solvent) operators pulling thinly disguised ex-City trailers with the distinctive orange and blue City logo painted out. How's that for topical?
Meanwhile, if Corgi does decide to withdraw the existing model we'd suggest they negotiate with Bruntingthorpe airfield as we understand they've got a spare bit of storage space.
