• Mr George Quick Smith, well known to the transport industry as chief executive of the National Freight Corporation, is also a barrister-at-law and it is in this capacity that he has appeared as author of Truck Law in the Seventies.
This book was published recently by Vauxhall Motors Ltd (price 70p) in conjunction with the Bedford Transport Magazine for which Mr Quick Smith has been legal correspondent for many years.
With so qualified an author and at so cheap a price, the book is a must for any transport operator's bookshelf. It is divided into 25 sections and although not indexed it is easily used for reference. Each point of fact concerning almost all aspects of general transport operation and traffic regulation is stated tersely with a reference number under a sub-headed section with cross-references where necessary. The statute covering each reference is quoted.
The law is stated as at December 1 1970. D.L.
