• With the needs of the small fleet operator in mind, Telehoist Ltd, Cheltenham, has designed a new maximum payload lightweight tipper for use on a light chassis. It is being supplied to jobbing builders, parks departments, local authorities, builders' merchants and to operators hiring for odd jobs, including the handyman market.
The Tel-lite stressed construction steel body is manufactured with a 14 swg floor and 18 swg sides, head and tailboard. It is made complete with single drop sides, top and bottom swung tailgate and mudflaps. A Telehoist single front end gear is mounted on the chassis subframe.
Fitted to a Bedford CF 106in. wheelbase 22cwt chassis, the tipper has a carrying capacity of 11 Cu yd, the weight of gear and body being about 6f-cwt. On the Bedford CF I26in. wheelbase 35cwt chassis the carrying capacity goes up to 2 cu yd and the approximate weight of gear and body is 7cwt.
The Ford Motor Company SVO division will supply the tipper fitted either to the Transit LCK I06in. wheelbase, with a body capacity of if cu yd or to the Transit LCY 118in. wheelbase, which has a capacity of 2 cu yd.
There are three British Leyland chassis to which the tipper can be fitted. The models EA 350 and EA 420 both have a 102in. wheelbase and a carrying capacity of 2 cu yd and the EA 440 model has a wheelbase of 120in. and will carry 3 cu yd. All three models are fitted with Telehoist tipping gear complete with pto and pump.
