A REAR door suitable for vans operating on high-speed schedules. has been patented by Mr. A. Ramsey, A.M.I.R.T.E., transport supervisor, Sunshine. Bread Co., Ltd., Norwich, The door is in two sections, split horizontally. The smaller top section is hinged
at the top and the bottom section is .hinged to the lower edge of the top section.
Arranged in the two corner pillars of the body ace runways for guide rollers which are attached to the bottom leftand right-hand corners of the bottom section. To open, the door a two-way locking handle, located at the junction of the two sections, is turned and pulled, which has the effect of jack-knifing the two-piece _door in an outward direction.
This action is assisted by connecting the lower 'edge of the bottom section to a spring-tensioned roller mounted transversely between the top raves of the body.. In the fully open position. the two sections provide a canopy to protect the driver when unloading or serving from the vehicle.
A number of .these doors has been fitted to Thames 10-cwt. vans operated by the Sunshine-Bread Co., Ltd., and it is understood that they have proved extrernelyefficient.
