• Hauliers across the SouthEast have been left mopping up following last week's floods. Businesses in Sussex and Kent were worst hit after floodwater swept through the towns of Uckfieid, Lewes and Maidstone.
Uckfield-based Oak Transport had six vehicles written off after the River Uck burst its banks and flooded the firm's yard. Goods in the warehouse were also destroyed. "We are just Vs/11g to get on with it but a is going to take some time to get vehicles replaced and so on," says director Phil Garroch. "We hope the company is still viable."
