We've all heard the story of the Scottish taxi accident in which 20 passengers were injured. Last week we were able to read about the reverse —the double-decker bus accident in which only one occupant was involved : the driver who wasn't a driver.
Seems that it's been quite a habit to use buses to run errands from Glasgow's Govan garage. This time the borrowed bus was on the vital job of nipping down to the 'fish and chip shop for fish suppers all round, for the garage night staff, when it collided with a car. And then the whole sorry tale came out. The miscreant even admitted in Glasgow Sheriff Court that he had borrowed buses on occasion to take his wife to work.
After the man had been dealt with by the court and dismissed by his employers, a Glasgow PTE spokesman was quoted as adding this rather oddly phrased footnote : " Disciplinary action would always be taken against anyone caught running a taxi service for their wives."
You don't say ?
