A GROUP engineering centre has been .1-1, formed by the Simms Motor and Electronics Corporation, Ltd., at Western Avenue, London, •W.3, within the premises of Aircraft Steel Structures, Ltd. Desien, development and engineering projects will be undertaken there for group companies in which it is considered uneconomic to maintain separate \ engineering organizations.
The centre will take over the work formerly done by the product development division. of Simms Motor Units, Ltd., and will be controlled by Mr. H. G. Dunn, product development director of Simms. Group companies which already maintain their own engineering organizations will also be able to obtain assistance on design and development when required.
B.M.M.O. TO BUILD 233 BUSES
THE Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., are to build 233 buses at their Edgbaston works next year, • the value of these vehicles totalling £1,233,000. The works programme includes 100 D,9 double-deckers, 100 S.14 single-deck buses and 33 C.5 coaches.
The company are at present building 95 D.9 buses, More than a dozen of which are already in service. An exclusive roadtest report of a D.9 will be published in The Commercial Motor next week.
OIL LOADS INCREASING
BDIGGER payloads are aiding production economies by Alexander Duckham and Co., Ltd., says Mr. Jack Duckham, chairman, in his annual statement. "More transport of lubricating oils in bulk, together with modern storage and dispensing equipment, continues to be our aim, and are part of the service rendered to customers in industry and the motor trade," he adds.
VAUXHALL STUDY COURSES
MORE than 1,600 British and overseas students are to attend, 18 different kinds of course this year at the Vauxhall Motors service training centre at Luton. They will be sent by dealers and operators.
