WHEN Mr. I. Ogden, Tyersal, BradVV ford, appeared before the Yorkshire Deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. J. H. A. Randolph, last week, he was told that B.R.S. (Pickfords), Ltd., took the strongest objection to his application. Mr. Ogden wanted to substitute a van for the platform vehicle he was operating on B licence.
He said most of the vehicle's time was now occupied on coal deliveries, but he had recently bought another C-licence lorry, bringing his C-licence strength to three vehicles. Many people had asked
him to undertake more furniture removals, and he wanted to develop a removal business within 60 miles of base. At present, he could carry furniture within a small radius,
Mr. T. B. Atkinson, for Pickfords, claimed that applications for the benefit of only the haulier were becoming too common. Pickfords opposed both the substitution and the increase in radius.
7v1r. Randolph said a change of normal user was being sought without evidence of need, and the application would be refused.
