• Whale Tankers has added computerised control to its Whale Blazer gritter design. The system allows users to specify precise salt density and ground cover, and an optional data-logger can keep records of the unit's performance.
The advantage of the system is that it retains its accuracy indefinitely, compensating for wear in the hydraulics and gritting equipment.
The sealed, illuminated electronic control panel is mounted
in the cab: it operates all the gritter's functions, including spinner speed, snow plough position and spinner reverse— this can throw salt under the rear wheels in slippery conditions.
The system has passwordcontrolled security to set maximum salt density figures, and can be linked to a computer to provide printed records of personnel details, time and distance covered, spread width a rid density.
