The new design for Amsterdam consists of an A,E.C. Regal IV chassis with Verheul body connected to a Kassbohrer semi-trailer also having a Ver
heul body. An 11.3-litre 165 b.h.p. engine is employed and is reported to be completely adequate for the heavy load. Hydraulic servo steering facilitates the work of manceuvring the huge vehicle in heavy traffic.
A turntable at approximately the centre of the vehicle provides for articulation and a bellows, canopy connects the two portions. The rearmost axle of the semi-trailer is connected to the turntable system by rods, so that the rear wheels turn at a slightly smaller angle than the front wheels used on the Regal chassis.
Automatic brakes are fitted to the semi-trailer as d safeguard against the failure of air pressure at the point of connection.
There are three exits and one entrance. Passengers who enter at the rear mount a platform with accommodation, for 30 people and pass the conductor seated on the right of the entrance. The conductor takes money and issues tickets before passengers move towards the front.
