Ltd., Hereford, as transport. manager in 1933, retired last month, after 31 years' continuous service. On his appointment the fleet consisted of some 15 vehicles and most deliveries were by rail. The company now operates more than 150 vehicles—including 18 tankers of 1,000 to 3,000 gal. capacity—on a basis of national distribution with 20 depots served from Hereford. Scully, who, as previously announced, has been appointed traffic manager of the North Western Road Car Co. Ltd. Mr. Rourke, who joined Midland Red as a traffic trainee in 1948, was selected in 1956 for the B.E.T. Training Scheme. On the completion of his three-year course ,with the North Western Road Car Co. Ltd. he became an assistant divisional traffic superintendent with the Birmingham company. He was appointed to his present position in February, 1963.

Two new directors appointed to the board of The Amey Group Ltd. of Oxford are Mr. John G. Brouard, who joined the group as director of Amey's Transport (Oxford) Ltd. in 1956 and is also a director of several other companies in the group, and Mr. Hugh Parry, who has been the group's chief accountant since 1958.

Mr. Charles A. Webb, who has served on the U.S.A. Interstate Commerce Commission for six years. became chairman of the regulatory agency today (Friday). He replaces Mr. Abe McGregor Gott Forty-seven-year-old Mr. Webb was a war-time officer on an aircraft carrier and later became legislative assistant to the former Ohio Senator, John W. Bricker. • One of the Shell Chemical Company's founder 'Members, Mr. Stanley H. Bradford, manager of the distribution department, retired on December 31. His oil. company career began in 1921 when he joined Anglo-Mexican Petroleum Co., which the same year amalgamated with Shell Marketing to form Shell-Mex Ltd. A variety of posts led to his appointment early in the Second World War to the Petroleum Board's rail and road distribution department and, after service with the R.A.F., he was transferred to Technical Products Ltd. He was the original member of the traffic department of what has since become Shell Chemical Co. and was closely concerned with the building up of the specialized fleet of 60 or so vehicles which it now operates.

The following appointments have been announced by London Transport: Mr. . F. E. Smith becomes acting staff superintendent (central buses) with the rank of principal executive assistant. He will report to the operating manager (central buses) and will advise him on policy , matters concerning department staff. Mr. S. H. Grayer becomes acting divisional superintendent (east division) in the department of the operating manager (central buses), replacing Mr. W. P. Morgan, divisional superintendent (east division), who has been seconded for special duties. Mr. Grayer, 57, joined the London General Omnibts Company in 1923 and after various appointments became deputy divisional superintendent (east division) in 1961 and later held a. similar post in the central division. Mr. J. Wooler, divisional superintendent (north) in the department of the operating manager (country buses and coaches) has been appointed an officer of L.T.R. Mr. Wooler, 46. joined London. Transport in 1935 and . after several appointments became principal executive assistant on taking up his present post in July, 1961.

Mr. W. G. Culver, who joined Ferodp Ltd: in 1957, and was appointed export sales manager in 1961, has been made home sales promotion manager. • He succeeds Mr. J. C. T. Fell, who has taken, up another Position .within the Turner and Newall group. The position of export sales manager is now occupied by Mr. P. M. Howlett, who joined the company in 1957 as an export sales management trainee.

Mr.. W. H. Stebbings, formerly educationofficer of the Institute of Transport, takes up an appointment today (Friday) as head of the department of shipping and commercial products at the City of London College.

Mr. C. F. Lindskog, a former managing director of :The Skefko Ball Bearing Co. Ltd., of Luton, has been appointed managing director of AB Svenska Kullagerfabriken. the Swedish parent company of the international SKF organization.
