A TAX-FREE award of £5,000 has ri been granted to Guy Motors, Ltd., by the Royal Commission on Awards to Inventors for their original idea of welding armoured fighting vehicles in 1938-39.
The company stated last week that the award was only for the original prewar idea .During the war, they gave free use to the British Government of their patents and methods. The question of the post-war use of the patents by the Government, and the extent of their application by other countries, is being investigated.
HEAVY SCOTTISH BOOKINGS
HEAVY bookings have been made for space at the Scottish Motor Show, to be held at the Kelvin Hall. Glasgow, from November 11-19. and the Exhibition is stated to be likely to exceed in value to the trade that of previous events.
Makes of vehicles and bodywork which will be represented on the stands of manufacturers, and other than by agents, will include Daimler, Albion, Leyland, Thornycroft, A.E.C., Brockhouse, Foden, Dennis, Scammell. Alexander, Bedford and Dodge.
