because • Plans by Eastern Counties Omnibus Co conventional return Ltd to introduce a multi-journey discount ticket have been suspended because of staff, resistance. The company introduced a nine-journey ticket with a 10th free journey included but drivers and conductors objected because of the additional volume of money and the extra delays involved, both of which would largely affect Monday morning journeys.
Eastern Counties introduced the ticket — which can be used on any journey — not acceptable to many passengers because they often had lifts in one direction. However, until further talks with crews on June 6, a return ticket has been reissued. In the first week of the multi-journey ticket several hundred were sold before the crews refused to handle them.
The company's 50p Wanderbus ticket — giving a day's unlimited travel — is said to be proving very attractive.
