Developments in specialized transport for public utilities and local authorities can have implications in other areas of road transport — as will be evidenced in next week's special Municipal and Public Utilities issue. For example, the dual-fuel diesel using LPG that is in service with a regional board's fleet: and the noise-suppressed chassis with which we've just been running some refuse collection trials.
Also in this special number will be features dealing with the transport engineering requirements of a fire service; an illustrated preview of vehicles and equipment to be shown at the Public Cleansing Conference: and some recommendations on the future organization of local authority transport.
