LAST Friday, a Divisional Court granted an ex pane application by Southdown Motor. Services, Ltd„ and the Southern Railway Co. to be enjoined. in the case brought by certain independent operators against the Minister of Transport and the South Eastern Traffic Commissioners, in connection with the prohibition of the issue of single and period-return tickets on seasonal express services from the coast to London.
A Divisional Court recently granted a rule nisi to the operators concerned. The arguments on the application for the rule to be made absolute are expected to be heard ;In a fortnight or so, and the Southdown and Southern Railway companies will participate.
DONCASTER WAGES TALKS.
CONSULTATIONS have been taking '4.--.place between operators in the Doncaster district, the Transport and General Workers Union, and the Ministry of Labour's chief conciliation officer at Leeds, on the wages and working conditions of drivers and conductors.
The matter was discussed at a meeting of A.R.O. passenger-transport members, which was addressed by Mr. Robert Barr. He said that the subject was receiving the attention of both the national and Yorkshire headquarters of A.R.O.
600 NEW VEHICLES FOR LONDON TRANSPORT.
AN order for 500 A.E.C. buses: which are to be introduced at the rate of 10 a week, and a contract for 100 Green Line coaches, also of A.E.C. make, have been placed. by London Transport. The new vehicles will be oilers. Fifty of the coaches will be of the Q type.
