HALF-GATE CROSSING

EAAYOUT of a novel type of levelcrossing was discussed by the Working Party on the Prevention of Road Traffic Accidents of the Inland Transport Committee of the United Nations Economic Cammission for Europe at their April meeting in Geneva.

The crossing has two half gates placed in staggered formation, one on each side of the railway track, and closing automatically on the approach of a train.

It was also advised that drivers overtaking other vehicles should switch on an auxiliary lamp. • Mrs. R. Liger, of France, was re-elected chairman of the party.
