By Andy Satter FOLLOWING ON from the successful CV Show debut of the 500 Series 18-tonner at the CV Show in April, Hino is pushing ahead with additions to the range, which will see the company offer a full line-up of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
"The 500 Series created a lot of interest and confirmed our plans to push ahead with the roll-out to the market, saysLiam O'Neill, director responsible for the development of the Hino business in the UK.
Al] Hino products are manufactured and distributed by Ireland-based Harris Distributors; O'Neill adds that representatives from Hino's head office in Japan are currently in Dublin working on the manufacturing process of the new 500 Series. "We have two models in the 500 Series line-up, a short-wheelbase version that rides on steel suspension and is aimed at the skip sector, while the long-wheelbase model, on air, is targeted at the distribution sector," O'Neill says. The 500 Series will be rolled out to the network later this summer.
Further product developments for the next 12 months include a 7.5-tonne version of the 500 Series, and an 18-tonne version of the 700 Series, benefiting from a bigger cab and powered by a new 9.0-litre engine. This engine will also power a new lightweight eight-wheeler chassis, believed to be ready for launch in the next two years.
O'Neill confirms that at next year's CV Show, Hino will be launching a new 6x4 double-drive tractor unit.
