• The privatisation of National Bus Company has been extended to France with the sale of Voyage National, the small French coaching company set up by NBC two years ago.
Voyage National has been bought by Gurna, the holding company for another former NBC subsidiary, Eastern National, which was the 12th operating company to be sold by NBC last December.
Lille-based Voyage National has a fleet of six luxury singleand double-decker coaches and a permanent staff of seven, although during the summer season this rises to around 30. Its managing director is Englishman Tony Davies, who will continue to head it.
Voyage National was set up by NBC early in 1985 to help provide back-up services to NBC companies operating on the Continent, and to develop its own charter business in the region. NBC's sale of Voyage National was approved by Transport Minister David Mitchell in June, but the legal complexities of its AngloFrench incorporation have delayed the sale,
