Motor a month ago, the maximum fee charged by approved tachograph centres for tachograph calibration will go up on 1 October from the current 228.80 to 230.50 plus VAT.
At the same time, the maximum fee for the biennial tachograph inspection, calculated as a proportion of the calibration fee, will be increased from 212.32 to 213.05 plus VAT.
The fees were last raised on 1 October 1986. Under EEC Tachograph Regulation (3821/85) all tachographs must be calibrated when installed in the vehicle and when other work may have disturbed the calibration. They must also be inspected at twoyearly intervals, and recallbrated at six-yearly intervals.
A list of approved DTp Tachograph Test Centres was included in last week's Commercial Motor as part of our free Handbook series.
