THE APPEAL on behalf of Mr. Derek Ward, trading as Wardline Tours, against the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners' refusal to grant a road service licence for an express carriage service between Robin Hood and Hull Docks has been dismissed by the Minister of Transport.
The Minister agreed with the Inspector, Mr. G. M. Williams, that on the evidence offered public demand for the proposed service was embryonic.
A variety of Continental tours was offered by respondents from the Wakefield area, although the Inspector conceded there might be little abstraction if the application succeeded.
Though the application was on merits closely balanced the Minister concluded the need for or desirability of the service was not established.
She was also satisfied that Wallace Arnold Tours Ltd. was qualified as an objector by virtue of its Continental tours services from the Wakefield area.
