SURREY POLICE are offering a four-figure reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for incidents where missiles have been thrown at passing vehicles.
There have been around 18 attacks over the past three months where objects, in most cases bricks, were thrown at moving vehicles either from the side of the road or from overhead footbridges.
Truck driver Michael Little died when a brick was thrown through his windscreen in Surrey in March 2003; his killer is now serving a six-year prison sentence. More recently, another truck driver had a lucky escape after a missile was thrown through his windscreen, just miles from where Little was killed (Cill 18 August).
Superintendent Martin Parker says:"The mindset of a person who is prepared to do something as reckless as this is incomprehensible. The impact of a brick travelling through the windscreen of a moving vehicle on anyone inside could very easily he devastating with tragic consequences.
If the outcomes had been different we would potentially now be undertaking a murder investigation to find the offenders."
