carry goods from a manufhcturer's premises to a warehouse. Is it necessary to have this vehicle plated and tested when it is oneyear old?
A Exemption from plating and testing for dual-purpose vehicles is contained in Schedule 2 of the Goods Vehicles (Plating and Testing) Regulations 1971. For the purposes of this schedule "dualpurpose vehicle" has the same meaning as in Regulation 3(1) of the Construction and Use Regulations. In those Regulations a dual-purpose vehicle is described as a vehicle constructed or adapted for the carriage of both passengers and of goods
or burden of any description, being a vehicle of which the gross unladen weight does not exceed 2030 kilograms (about 2 tons) and is so constructed or adapted that the driving power of the engine is, or by the appropriate use of the controls of the vehicle can be, transmitted to all the wheels of the vehicle.
The Land-Rover which you quote obviously falls within the category of dualpurpose vehicle and is therefore exempt from the plating and testing Regulations.
