I MPROVED visibility and appearance and increased body length are the requirements of several operators who have been supplied with Bedford 5-ton chassis, fitted with the standard cab of the Bedford 7-tonner, by Vincent Greenhous (Shrewsbury), Ltd., Greyfriars Motor Works, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Operating in narrow lanes and manceuvring in restricted spaces on farms call for good visibility, and this
feature has in most instances been the determining factor. The body length has been increased from 14 ft. 04 in. to 18 ft. 10 in.
Because of the changed position of the engine in relation to the cab, a new engine cover and near-side panel are fitted, and various special brackets and so on are employed for the attachment of the cab. The original radiator of the 5-ton chassis is mounted in a suitable frame attached to the grille. The cost of the conversion is £150.
PREFERENCE FOR CORPORATION
PERMISSION has been granted to Leeds Corporation to operate a new stage service between the city centre and the Swarcliffe housing estate at Seacroft. West Yorkshire Road Car Co., Ltd., who asked for a similar service, have had their application rejected, but the Yorkshire Licensing Authority has authorized them to increase slightly the frequency of their Leeds-SeacroftAberford service.
