A new
show relies on a
degree of luck, and the Institute of Municipal Transport certainly took a gamble with its Vehicle & Plant Exhibition (6-8 July), just three weeks after the Institute of Wastes Management Show. There was a high-quality turnout of 55 exhibitors at Perry Park in Birmingham, but visitors were few and far between. However, this did not deter exhibitors. Most said they would return next year, several hinting that the IMT's inexpensive stands (£250 for 242m2) and excellent location would prove more attractive than Torbay.
Executive director Harry Street promised the 1996 Show would be bigger—the National Association of Waste Disposal Contractors conference might join it in Birmingham, and CHEM (Container Handling Equipment Manufacturers) has also expressed an interest.
