A FIVE-YEAR contract to carry up to
100,000 tons of timber a year has been signed between the Humber Warehousing Group Ltd., of Grimsby, and the Grimsby and Immingham Timber Importers Association.
As a result, Humber Warehousing, a member of the Associated Fisheries Group, is making a major investment in the purchase of 12 Ford D.800 tractive units and 36 RTC four-in-line trailers. These will complement the company's present fleet of 125 vehicles.
Over the past year the company has rapidly expanded both its warehousing and transport interests. Four transport companies in the Lincolnshire and Suffolk areas have been acquired and warehousing capacity now totals more than 180,000 sq. ft.
Humber Warehousing plans further expansion in both fields in the near future, which will enable it to offer its customers nation-wide coverage.
To co-ordinate its diverse warehousing, transport and vehicle construction business, new headquarters will shortly be built in Grimsby.
